The following classes are available to both male and female students of all ages, apart from Pre-school Dance which is available to boys and girls from 3 years to starting school. At AVA we operate with a 'hands on' approach, this may mean that to get the point across we need to touch a student to straighten out a leg, flex an ankle, curve an arm or square the shoulders. We feel that this is necessary to assist the students development but should any parent/carer have any misgivings about this then please speak to Ann at the earliest opportunity.
A
class devised especially for boys and girls aged 3 years to school
age. The emphasis is on freedom of movement, development of co-ordination,
the discovery of mime and lots of group participation in a fun environment;
this builds confidence for the future. Parents are not encouraged
to watch as it is difficult to hold a youngsters concentration whilst
an audience is present. However, if the pupil is shy please join
in for a few weeks. Fees
are paid weekly.

Ballet |
The
I.D.T.A. (International Dance Teachers Association) syllabus is
taught for examination, an option that is available to all pupils.
The school prepares boys and girls in this subject with an excellent
base for any physical career they may undertake. It may be danced
purely for a "hobby", absorbing all the benefits ballet
provides in a child's development or it may be taken for the serious
student. Examinations are not compulsory; parents are approached
at the appropriate time at the discretion of the teacher.
Fees are
paid by the term in advance.
