Ann's career
began after gaining a scholarship to study at the Bush Davies
vocational dance school in Sussex.
Upon turning professional her performing career lead her towards
commercial jazz dance, appearing in shows for theatre, cabaret
and television in England, the Mediterranean and extensively
in Europe becoming dance captain / assistant choreographer.
In 1989 Ann married, settled in Harrogate and opened her own
dance school, gaining qualifications to advanced level to
teach classical ballet, modern jazz and tap. The A.V.A. Academy
moved to new premises comprising of two fully equipped studios
in 1996.
In September 2008 the Harrogate Studio became the Chatsworth Dance Centre and was taken over by Mike and Jan Starkings leaving Ann free to pursue her freelance teaching and teaching at the Darley Community Centre.
As Principal of A.V.A. and Fellow member of the International
Dance Teachers Association, Ann works nurturing young students to enjoy and achieve their individual
goals, some already venturing into the profession.
Ann
is also currently on the IDTA North East Area committee. |
